Can you share the do's, don'ts, and how to think about reasonable retail margin?

Why: we start talking to retails to sell our products and they want 50% margin. Help!

I can connect you to someone who sells in to stores like Bed,Bath&Beyond, Target, Crate&Barrel, etc -- it's more of the home goods space -- would that help?
