I am horrible at picking wines, but there is a Wine Guild in Charlottesville -- a lot of wine specialists. Would they be someone you might contact?
What is your budget per bottle?
Max budget per bottle is $25
Did Kathy or Jon at Wegmans help you? A bolder red wine like Syrah or Zinfandel are usually recommended with dark chocolate or you can go sweeter as well. Two wines I've had with chocolate that are delish are Maggio Petite Sirah (slightly sweet and fruity) and Michael David's Petite Petit. The last one is a blend of Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot that is dryer and more intense in flavor.
Thanks Meg! This is super super helpful! I've never tried them with Syrah & Zinfandel before but will definitely try! And thanks for the intro too, I am meeting Kathy and Jon on Tuesday. Excited!!
Also Market Street Wines used to have monthly or so free wine tastings - if they're still doing it that might be another place to do this kind of thing in the future! They carry a lot of local products.
